Townsquare Pet Patrol
From shelters to foster and adoption groups, there are many different options when you are looking to add a new four-legged member to your family. Every week Townsquare’s Pet Patrol, brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital highlights adoptable pets from across the Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas areas, hoping to find furr-ever homes for shelter pets from throughout the region.
This week we are highlighting animals from 12 shelters, and hope to add more as momentum builds for this project. We will also be featuring information on upcoming events at our local shelters, as well as bringing you information on upcoming fund raising activities for these organization.
The Pet Patrol is brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital. We would also like to thank Just 4 K9s and Kitties 2, your home for grooming supplies, as well as all of your pets’ needs, from food to beds to toys. Please remember to spay and neuter, and of course to adopt, not shop!
Special congratulations are in order to Russell Anderson and everyone at Lawton Animal Welfare, who, with their Two-Hearts adoption event that past weekend went over 1,000 adoptions during their 2016-2017 fiscal year. The most impressive part is the year will run though the end of June, so they still have another month to add to that incredible total. Way to go guys!
Over the past weekend, the last three featured dogs from Friends Fur Change in Chickasha found new homes. Congratulations to Ozzie, Sally and Shylee for finding their forever homes.
Rainbow Bridge Can Wait has recently lost several of their foster families and is currently looking for temporary homes that can take in one or two animals, especially larger dogs, while they search for their fur-ever homes. On Saturday, June 10th, the Wilbarger Humane Society will be holding their Yearly Shot Clinic from 10 am to 2 pm. the clinic is for both dogs and cats and will be held at 2801 Sullivan St in Vernon. For more info, call the Humane Society at 940 552-5373.
Friends Fur Change Adoption Group will be holding an adoption event this Saturday June 10, from 10 am to 5 pm. at Petsense in Chickasha. There will be plenty of dogs, puppies, cats and kittens there and all have been spayed or neutered and are up-to-date on their shots.
Rainbow Bridge Can Wait is currently holding a fundraising raffle. A $10 donation will gain you entry for a drawing for a tattoo from Chess Salazar, one of Oklahoma’s top tattoo artists, with a value of $300. Two winners will be drawn and notified.

Need someone to go to the lake with you? Need a fishing partner? The water-loving, adventure-loving 1-year old Labrador Retriever we call Asha is the girl for you! She came to us as a country stray, and as lovely as she is, we are certain it won’t take long to find her Forever Home. Asha gets along with other dogs and is even cat friendly, but her first love will always be people. She is very social and will make a great companion for an active family.

This pretty young lady is Nolee, who currently is sponsored by one of Lawton Animal Wefare’s generous volunteers. She is currently the longest staying resident in our facility, and is looking for a family to adopt her and give her a FUR-EVER HOME.

Everbody meet Hercules a male Staffordshire terrier, about 1 year old. He is up-to-date on his shots, neutered, and microchipped. He is potty and kennel trained, enjoys car rides and meeting new people. He would also make a good hiking or running partner. He loves to play outside and with dogs his size or smaller. He has not been around cats.

Meet Chloe, a 2-3 year old dobie/lab blend. She loves to give hugs and play with toys. Chloe is house trained and knows basic commands, full of energy and loves bigger kids just not too sure about the little ones.
Chloe comes spayed, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, is heart-worm negative and on monthly heart worm preventative as well as flea and tick preventative. She also comes with 30 days of free veterinary insurance. The rescue pays for activation of the microchip and up to a year a monitoring.

This is Pink, and she is an about one year old pit/mix. She is a beautiful, playful little girl who loves toys and water. She loves humans, but has food aggression around other dogs.

These four were dumped this week in the Fletcher/Elgin Area on Watts Road and 135th Street. One male (tan) and three female, and they are about 10 weeks old.
This quartet has received their first set of shots yesterday and they got de-wormed as well. All 4 were washed, dipped and nails clipped. They are looking for loving new families or families that are willing to foster them.
We will provide food, crate, vetting etc. for foster dogs. All you need is love, understanding and patience.

With this being Adopt a Shelter Cat month, we will be featuring one of our precious cats as pet of the week. This week we will start with Boo Boo, a domestic short hair black and white male. He, like many of our cats, was a stray on the street. He had two cage mates who have since been adopted leaving Boo Boo alone and wanting a family.
He plays well with others and can have a dominate personality. Boo Boo is looking for someone to play with so please come give him a look.
