What To Eat When You Don’t Want Turkey!
With Thanksgiving just days away, you may be asking yourself that age old question, “Turkey, again?” Yes, it's true, Turkey makes you sleepy. And with all that Black Friday Shopping to prepare for, you may want to change your diet this year to something a little different. We have come up with these Alternative Thanksgiving Dinners!
It's quick, it's easy. Virtually no clean-up, just put the box in the trash! It does have it's down side though. I wouldn't wear white...JUST SAYIN. And, while cold pizza for breakfast is wonderful, it's not quite the same as a turkey sandwich.
I know that you may not have thought of this. You're welcome! Talk about simple. Take out a can, pour into a pan, and heat it up. Yeah, you can dress it up with cheese and/or onions, add a few crackers and it's almost a gourmet meal. Good for left-overs too. Downside: Not so great when our Thanksgivings are almost 80 degrees!
The Sandwich is a complicated fellow. It can be both simple and complex. Fat and Skinny. Plain or Gooey. Use your creativity to make it what you want! I love PB&J, and I love plain ham & cheese. If someone else is making it, I love it! Mustard or Mayo, Jelly or Marshmallow Fluff, you can have it all with a Sandwich for Thanksgiving. No downside found.
Living in Southwest Oklahoma for the past 30 plus years, I have found our Thanksgiving day weather to be on the mild side more often than not. Why not have a BBQ? Love the smell of beef on an open flame! Burgers, Steak, Vinison anyone? Again, clean up is great, you can use your fine plastic plates! Hmmm, I may have to rethink this Thursday's menu!
Cheeseburger & Fries
To all of my friends, I apologize for all the times I make you eat Cheeseburgers with me! Yes, I think that admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery. I believe the PERFECT MEAL is a cheeseburger. It has all of the food groups, cheese, meat bread and veggies, plus just for a little extra veggies, how bout a piping hot order of french fries to go along with it! So, this Thanksgiving, here's an idea! Burgers instead of Turkey! I am game!
