Kacey Musgraves 2018 Farm Aid
Kacey Musgraves made her second appearance at Farm Aid on Sept. 22. Held at the Xfinity Center in Hartford, Conn., the annual festival aims to raise money and awareness for family farmers throughout the U.S., and 2018's event included a stacked lineup from a diverse set of acts, including founder Willie Nelson, plus Chris Stapleton, Margo Price, Jamey Johnson, Neil Young and Sturgill Simpson, among others.
Musgraves first took the Farm Aid stage in 2013.
The Texas native kicked off her 2018 performance with the ethereal "Slow Burn" and sentimental "Butterflies," both featured on Golden Hour. During her set she'd also salute the family farmer and the festival's cause.
"Huge props to our family farmers that keep us healthy, keep America going," she says. "It's a cause that I love so much and it's a cause that should be so important to everybody because it all affects us."
Her nine-song set relied heavily on songs off her latest album, Golden Hour, and her band matched her ensemble in their own powder-blue suits. Highlights included the trippy "Velvet Elvis," disco flavored cover of Brooks & Dunn's "Neon Moon" and a stripped down take of "Love Is a Wild Thing" — a song which she says details how there is a lot of love in the world despite what the news often portrays.
"There feels like there's a lot of hate sometimes but there's a lot of good and a lot of love. That love is always going to be stronger and it's always going to trump the hate," Musgraves shares.
