The absurd amount of work Sarah Paulson pulled double-duty between The People v. O.J. Simpson and American Horror Story: Hotel will surely pay off come Emmy-time, but can she do it all over again? Sources say the actor is ready to don her next wig for the Katrina-set American Crime Story Season 2, along with several others.

Following a recent writer research trip to New Orleans for American Crime Story Season 2, Deadline reports that Paulson “fully intends to return to the series,” while the actor herself quoted to Awardsline:

The Katrina story, to me, is a literal American crime. It says something about a uniquely American attitude, and I find it incredibly potent.

We’d also previously heard of Jon Travolta’s interest to return (potentially even as himself), having aided in the Katrina rescue effort in real life. As to any others, Deadline puts it “Many of the original cast … are expected to reassemble for the next chapter in the Ryan Murphy-produced anthology show.”

Additionally, producers Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson offered an intriguing explanation as to how Katrina aftermath fit the American Crime Story name, even as the first season de-emphasized that title in favor of The People v. O.J. Simpson:

We started talking about ‘American crime stories’ as being before and after moments — crimes in which nothing was the same after as it was before. They’re turning points. As we started looking at O.J. and Katrina next to each other, we realized that they were crimes in which America was culpable for the crime as much as anybody else.

It remains to be seen when American Crime Story will shore up its cast, or begin shooting for a likely 2017 premiere, but who might Paulson or others end up playing this time out?
