Ashley Monroe Cancels Concerts Due to Kidney Infection That Could ‘Risk [Her] Life’
Ashley Monroe has been forced to cancel several concerts due to a severe kidney infection that could turn into a life-threatening problem.
"I have to cancel the rest of the shows for this run because of a severe kidney infection. This is very serious and I’m heading back to Nashville to go to the hospital," Monroe said Thursday (July 10), sharing the disappointing news on her website. "Thank you for understanding and please keep me in your prayers."
The singer expressed the severity of the situation, adding, "I’m so sorry for the disappointment this will cause, but if I don’t take care of this it could risk my life. I promise I will make it up to you all."
Monroe was on a short trek of six shows. She started the tiny tour in Charlottesville, Va. on Wednesday (July 9) and was set to end in Dewey Beach, Del. on July 14, hitting New York, New Jersey and Maryland in between.
Sadly, instead of relaxing on her tour bus, the Pistol Annies singer will be sitting in a hospital bed this weekend. She has several other concerts and festivals booked for this summer, including Zac Brown's fourth annual Southern Ground Music and Food Festival. Hopefully, Monroe's recovery from her kidney issues will be fast, and doctors can quickly resolve her infection so she can get back on the road.
