
Lawton Public Schools Kick Off Softball Season With Local Festival
It's back to school time in Oklahoma! And Lawton Public Schools will kickoff back to school by hosting the Best of the Southwest Pre-Season Softball Festival, which will feature softball teams from all three Lawton high schools and other high schools from southwest Oklahoma.
The LPS Best of the Southwest Pre-Season Softball Festival will kickoff today, Thursday, July 31 and continue Friday, August 1 at all three Lawton high school softball fields. Anyone can watch the softball games for a $6 entry fee and concessions will be available at all three fields.

Oklahoma City will host softball for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Oklahoma has become synonymous with softball as it hosts the Women's College World Series and is home to one of the best softball teams in the world at The University of Oklahoma. The University of Oklahoma is legendary in the softball world having won eight Women's College World Series titles. The University of Oklahoma softball team dominated the Women's College World Series from 2021 to 2024 with four-year consecutive title wins.
Needless to say, Oklahoma is one of the best places in the world for softball! Which is why Oklahoma will also play host to the softball games during the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. All of the softball events during the 2028 Summer Olympics will be held at Devon Park, which is the home of the Women's College World Series. Softball games for the Summer Olympics will take place July 23-29. Tickets are not yet available for the games, but we can bet several Oklahoma softball players will want to attend this historic moment in Oklahoma City!
