Billboard Decade Awards – Today In Country Music History [VIDEO]

Carrie Underwood’s album Some Hearts was named Country Album of the Decade by Billboard magazine. The album contains the number one singles "Jesus, Take the Wheel", "Don't Forget to Remember Me", "Wasted" and "Before He Cheats".
Keith Urban’s “Love Somebody Like You” was named single of the decade and Toby Keith was named Songwriter/Artist of the Decade by Billboard. Keith wrote 25 #1 hits during the decade, including "You Shouldn't Kiss Me Like This", "Beer For My Horses" and "God Love Her."
2012
Randy Travis pleaded not guilty in Plano, Texas, to an assault charge that was filed against him in August. He insisted he was simply breaking up a fight between his girlfriend and her estranged husband.
2004
Kenny Chesney’s Greatest Hits album, released in 2000, was certified quadruple platinum. The album featured tracks from Chesney’s first 5 albums and also included 2 new singles: "I Lost It" (#3) and "Don't Happen Twice" (#1).
1995
The Recording Industry Association of America awards a platinum album for Clint Black's One Emotion. The album featured five singles: "Untanglin' My Mind" (#4), "Wherever You Go" (#3), "Summer's Comin'" (#1), the title track (#2) and "Life Gets Away" (#4).
The album became Black’s fifth consecutive album to attain platinum certification or better.
1948
Hank Williams recorded “Lovesick Blues” in Cincinnati at the E.T. Herzog Studio. The song would become his first number one hit.
