Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert Agree a Baby Is a ‘Couple Years Away’
Though Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert have become quite the ‘it couple’ in and beyond the realm of country music, the two agree that they’re not planning for kids anytime soon. In a recent interview with US Weekly, Shelton explained that while they will be ringing in their first anniversary in May, they’re content to put off that next step for just a little while longer.
“We just talked about that earlier this week, and I think we both agree that we’re a couple of years away from seriously talking about that,” Shelton said. ”It’s just that there’s a lot of this stuff that’s happening right now, and it only happens once. We want to be able to enjoy this and focus on our careers so when it is time, we’ll be ready to sit around and watch that happen.”
With Shelton is keeping busy as a celebrity coach on ‘The Voice‘ in addition to his regular touring and recording career, and Lambert is occupied with a tour of her own, the two are definitely not accustomed to sitting around and watching anything happen at this point in their lives. And while he isn’t rushing his wife into motherhood, Shelton does point out that she has some admirable qualities that will likely help her when that time does come.
“If she’s anything with an actual human being like she is with dogs, the kid’s gonna be golden!” he enthused. The couple are actually collaborating some on ‘The Voice,’ with Lambert helping out as an advisor to Team Blake. Just last week, Lambert released her music video for the highly emotional song ‘Over You,’ which she and Shelton wrote together about the tragic death of Shelton’s older brother when Shelton was just 14. The two make a great couple and incredible collaborators, and we have no doubt that Blake and Miranda will knock parenthood out of the park as well — whenever that time comes.
