Plenty of celebrities keep pets, some of which are pretty exotic and unique: Justin Bieber's monkey, Elvis Presley's kangaroo ... and Blake Shelton's turkey.

Shelton's turkey was named Turkey, and as the singer told CMT back in 2003, he could be a bit of an odd bird (pun intended).

"I went outside one day, and I had a bunch of table scraps laying around the kitchen after Thanksgiving, and I threw them out in the yard," Shelton explained. "And I looked out the window, and I saw my pet turkey actually eating some turkey! I got a big kick out of that."

Being the jokester that he is, Shelton hoped "to expose him to some different things in the world" and bring Turkey to an awards show.

"Up until this point, he's been to Arkansas one time. He has been to Oklahoma, which is where he was born, and now he lives in Tennessee," Shelton said. "So, I feel like, without me, he doesn't get to do things, and I feel a responsibility to show him the world."

Unfortunately, Turkey died of heat stroke in June of 2003 before making his red carpet debut.
