Lawton and Cache residents will have the opportunity to shop the Community Action Development Corporation's traveling Community Market on Wednesday, August 26. The market will be parked in Lawton on Wednesday morning and head to Cache that afternoon.

Community Action Development Corporation in Frederick unveiled its traveling Community Market earlier this year, and regularly opens the market in Frederick while also traveling to other communities. The purpose of the Community Market is to make affordable grocery shopping more accessible to food deserts in southwest Oklahoma.

The Community Market sells groceries at affordable prices and also accepts SNAP. Shoppers can pick up fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, pantry items and more.

Community Action Development Corporation's Community Market is open to the public.

Community Action Development Corporation will park its Community Market at Abundant Life Community Church of Lawton, 1406 NW 13th St, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The Community Market will then travel to Cache for the afternoon, and will be parked at City Park, 404 West C Ave, from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

The Community Market is open to the public.

Community Action Development Corporation also offers transportation to the Community Market.

One of the main obstacles for food access is limited or no access to transportation. Lawton and Cache residents who would like to shop the Community Market but do not have access to transportation can schedule transportation in advance through the Community Action Development Corporation.

Those who would like to schedule transportation to and from the Community Market in Lawton and Cache can call 580-374-5518. The Community Market is handicap accessible, however, transportation to the market is not.
