On Tuesday, December 3, Cameron University will earmark all donations received that day to benefit the institution’s student organizations, in observance of Giving Tuesday, the national day of giving. Donors are encouraged to specify which student organization they wish to support to ensure that the gift goes to the organization of their choice. Donors may also donate to the campaign in advance of Giving Tuesday if they prefer. Gifts can be made online at http://www.cameron.edu/cu_foundation/ways-to-give, which will direct donors to a secure, online credit card form. Gifts can also be mailed to Cameron University, Office of University Advancement, Administration 145, Lawton, OK 73505.

“GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a day that encourages people to do good,” says Albert Johnson Jr., Vice President for University Advancement. “This year’s gifts will benefit our student organizations. It is our hope that the students who benefit from Giving Tuesday this year will be inspired to adopt the practice of charitable giving as they find success in life.”

Student organizations play a vital role on campus by enhancing the student experience through volunteerism on campus and in the community.  Securing funding through Giving Tuesday will provide student organizations the ability to host special events and projects.

“We have set a goal of $10,000 for our student organizations,” Johnson says. “Even better, the Cameron University Foundation will match any gifts over the initial $10,000.”
