Carrie Underwood Taking Time off After 2017 Grammy Awards
Carrie Underwood had another busy — and very successful — year in 2016, but the country singer looks to be dialing back in 2017.
In a pre-Grammy red carpet interview televised on CBS Sunday night (Feb. 12), Underwood gave an inside look at what her life will be like in the near future. It seems after completing her massive Storyteller Tour, followed by her December tour dates in Australia and New Zealand with Keith Urban, Underwood is ready for some time off.
“Right now, I’m kind of in the process of remembering what it’s like to be human and getting into the mom routine and going to some hockey games and stuff like that,” Underwood says. “I figure I’ll start working on new stuff at some point. I’ll get the itch and I’ll be like OK, I need to go be creative.”

It’s understood that Underwood, who shares her 23-month-old son, Isaiah, with husband and Nashville Predators center man Mike Fisher, wants to dedicate more time to her family in 2017, starting right after the Grammys.
“I think we’re going to try to get away a little bit for a couple days,” says Underwood in her red carpet interview. “There’s a little mini break that they have in his schedule, so we’re not going to waste it.”
The country star had a huge 2016 with three No. 1 songs in “Smoke Break,” “Heartbeat” and “Church Bells,” all from her Storyteller album. She also performed new single “The Fighter” with Keith Urban at the Grammy Awards Sunday night. “The Fighter” was released on Urban’s 2016 Ripcord album, which was also nominated at the Grammys for Best Country Album.
