Today we focus on a trio who came together in Nashville, coming from different back grounds to form one of the most powerful and successful trios in country music history. A trio that started out just wanting to write good music, but that soon found they had something special to share with country music.

Charles Kelley, his high school buddy Dave Haywood and Hilary Scott came together in Nashville in 2006. Kelley, the brother of pop-singer Josh Kelley had moved to Nashville to try and start a solo career, but had achieved more success working construction than he did making music. Haywood and Kelley began a writing partnership, soon connecting with Hillary Scott, daughter of singer Linda Davis, via Myspace, inviting her to join their songwriting partnership. Before long, the trio realized they had a great sound and began performing around Nashville, dubbing the group Lady Antebellum, after the historic plantation architecture styling that was popular in the south.

The trio hit the ground running, signing with Capitol Records in 2007, soon after appearing as guests on Jim Brickman's single "Never Alone", which peaked at #14 on the Billboard Magazine's Adult Contemporary chart, while also writing and performing music for the MTV series The Hills. Lady A capped 2007 by releasing their debut single "Love Don't Live Here" in September, which served as the lead for their self-titled debut album, which was released in April of 2008. The album featured 3 top-10 hits, including their first #1 single, "I Run To You" and has been certified double platinum by the RIAA for sales of more than 2 million copies.

The group has lived up to original success, releasing four more album with Capitol Records Nashville in the years since 2008, all four of the album have been certified gold or platinum. The awards have piled up also, as Scott, Haywood and Kelley were named the ACm Top New Duo of Vocal Group, as well as Top Vocal Group of the

Year, as well as the CMA New Artist of the Year in 2008. They have been named the CMA Vocal Group of the Year 7 times and the ACM equivalent 6 times. Both organizations have awarded Lady A the Single of the Year Twice, and they are two-time Grammy winners for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group.

After taking a lot of 2016 off to work on separate projects (Kelley and Scott each released solo albums, while Haywood and his wife Kelli welcome the birth of their first son Cash), Lady A has a new album, Heart Break, set to release in 2017, and we have the lead single in our spotlight today. Lady Antebellum and "You Look Good" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
