Today our focus turns to one of the hottest up and coming bands in Nashville, a group that came together out of a chance meeting of two musicians who were playing in other groups at the time, and a bond that was formed by an extraordinary connection to the Nashville community built by the common bond of music.

In 2012, vocalist Brandon Lancaster and drummer Tripp Howell were both in separate bands playing at a Nashville music festival and began sitting in with each other at local jam sessions. Howell had just moved to Nashville and Music City native Lancaster had just returned from college the same week. Lead guitarist Eric Steedly soon began part of their little group and through mutual friends keyboardist and banjo player Jared Hampton and bassist Chandler Baldwin were added.

The quintet turned their jam sessions into regular gigs around the Nashville area at every chance they got. With a mixture of cover songs and originals written by Lancaster, Lancaster & Company as they were originally known, became in demand performers at Music City night spots. The group would take advantage of Howell's day job in a carpet warehouse, and would use the second floor of the warehouse as their regular practice facility.

But it was Lancaster's side job that would pay the biggest dividends. Working a concession stand in Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, he was introduced to producer Jay Joyce at a 2014 concert. A conversation was struck up that led to Joyce inviting Lancaster to submit share some of the songs he had written. After Lancaster submitted his songs to Joyce, the band was invited to audition for Joyce. Joyce was duly impressed by the band and invited them to record. From those session came the bands self-titled, 2015 debut EP.

The EP caught the ear on new Sony Music Chairman & CEO Randy Goodman, who signed the group after hearing them live, as one of his first acts after taking the helm. Assigned to Sony's subsidiary label Arista Nashville, the band went into the studio to work on their first full length album. Shorting the bands name to LANco, they are prepared to take Nashville by storm, welcoming every new fan to the company, without who all five know they would be nowhere. The first single from this debut project is in our spotlight today. LANco & "Greatest Love Story" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
