Today we turn our spotlight on a singer and songwriter from Aledo, Illinois, who has stated many times that first impressions matter. And the first impression left by her debut album is that she is going to be a country music act that will soon matter. She has been called by many, including music industry magazine The Fader, as country music's "next big thing".

Margo Price has quickly built a reputation in Nashville as a hard working singer and songwriter. In 2014, Rolling Stone magazine listed Price on their list of "Country Artists You Need To Know", while leading the groups Buffalo Clover and Margo Stone & the Pricetags. But her climb to mainstream success started long before she became a "a fixture in the East Nashville music community".

In 2014, Stone visited Sun Studios, the legendary recording studios that had been the home to such recording legends as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. When Bob Dylan recorded his 1969 album Nashville Skyline at the studio, for good luck, he kissed the x that marked the spot where Presley stood while recording. After hearing this while on the tour, Stone got down and kissed the same spot, figuring if it was good enough for Dylan, it was good enough for her.

Apparently it worked, because when Stone returned to the studio a year later, this time as an artist, she recorded her debut solo album Midwest Farmer's Daughter, which has been called one of the best albums of 2016. After the album's release in March, Stone appeared on the April 9th episode of Saturday Night Live as the musical guest. She has since appeared on several programs in both the U.S. and Brittain, and her traditional country sound has led Stone to being called "a singular and vital part of the Nashville scene" and her sound as having "a matter of factness that conveys an enduring humility".
