CMA Award Nominees, Along With Seth’s Picks For Tonight’s Show
The CMA Awards air tonight on ABC. Here is a list of the nominees, along with my picks for each award (in italics and bold, quite like most of my predictions)...
Two awards were announced on ABC this morning during Good Morning America. Keith Urban & Miranda Lambert's colaboration on "We Were Us" won the award for Musical Event of the Year edging Tim & Faith's "Meanwhile, Back At Mama's" and Dierks Bentley will be taking home the trophy for Best Music Video for "Drunk On A Plane."
ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR
Luke Bryan
Miranda Lambert
George Strait (the cowboy rides away with the award after one of the most successful tours ever)
Blake Shelton
Keith Urban
FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR
Miranda Lambert (Really? Like there's a question? The current queen of country music)
Martina McBride
Kacey Musgraves
Carrie Underwood
Taylor Swift
MALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR
Luke Bryan
Dierks Bentley
Eric Church (Yes, I am calling for a complete upset, but have you listened to The Outsiders?)
Blake Shelton
Keith Urban
ALBUM OF THE YEAR
Crash My Party, Luke Bryan
Platinum, Miranda Lambert
Fuse, Keith Urban
Riser, Dierks Bentley
The Outsiders, Eric Church (see my choice for Male Vocalist. Far and away the best album of ANY genre this year.)
VOCAL GROUP OF THE YEAR
Eli Young Band
Lady Antebellum
Little Big Town (Yeah I might be prejudice because they were here in July, but CMT performance and "Day Drinking" aside, there hasn't been much from this category this year and they are the incumbents.)
The Band Perry
Zac Brown Band
VOCAL DUO OF THE YEAR
Dan+Shay
Florida Georgia Line (Not because I think they are deserving, I just think they will win.)
Love & Theft
The Swon Brothers
Thompson Square
NEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR
Cole Swindell
Brett Eldredge (Sentimental favorite on this one, and YES, I am calling for a HUUUUUGE upset.)
Kip Moore
Thomas Rhett
Brandy Clark
SONG OF THE YEAR (Awarded to songwriter)
Automatic (Miranda Lambert, Nicolle Galyon and Natalie Hemby )
Follow Your Arrow (Brandy Clark, Shane MacAnally and Kasey Musgraves)
Give Me Back My Hometown (Eric Church and Luke Laird
I Don’t Dance (Dallas Davidson, Lee Brice and Rob Hatch) (For me, the no-brainer of the night, the defending champ in this categorie, Lee Brice, with another incredible, personal song.)
I Hold On (Brett James and Dierks Bentley)
SINGLE OF THE YEAR (Awarded to artist and producer)
Automatic, Miranda Lambert
Drunk on a Plane, Dierks Bentley
Give Me Back My Hometown, Eric Church
Meanwhile Back At Mama’s, Tim McGraw with Faith Hill
Mine Would Be You, Blake Shelton (Come on, Blake has to win something, he should win Entertainer, but the King trumped him and this is an incredible single.)
