2010  Country Comes Home

A gathering of Opry Members young and old join to sing "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" as the Grand Ole Opry House reopens following May floods, with the "Country Comes Home" concert. Artists include Brad Paisley, Josh Turner, Dierks Bentley, Martina McBride, Keith Urban, Jason Aldean and Little Jimmy Dickens.

The Opry House flooded in early May, and its famous stage was under nearly four feet of water.

"We had no idea that when we walked into the Opry House on May 4 or May 5, after the water receded, after having 46 inches of water across the stage, you never know what to expect," said Dave Kloppel, president of the Grand Ole Opry.  "We got in there quickly, we got important things out, important artifacts, the important circle of wood and made our plans to reopen and I would say it's going much better than expected."

Everything on the first flood had to be replaced, giving the Grand Ole Opry the opportunity to make some upgrades. In addition to a new stage with new curtains, Kloppel said they installed a new high definition video projection system. The backstage was also given a total transformation.

The Country Comes Home concert special was not complete without a surprise. Singer Trace Adkins announced Blake Shelton was invited to become the next member of the Grand Ole Opry.

Many of the artists were interacting with each other and fans through Twitter, and that is how the invitation came.

"I thought it was a little bit odd," Shelton said, "that Trace was taking his phone out on national television and on the stage at the Grand Ole Opry."

Shelton was still speechless after the show.
