Penned by Will Bowen with Josh Carter and Zach Carter (the twin-brother duo also known as Kingston), the track was one of the first the singer cut for his sophomore album, which will be released on Columbia Nashville.

Rolling Stone wrote: "Fall Apart" is a slow-burning ballad that details the challenges of getting over a lost love, and the as-yet-untitled album, James reveals, will be a honest representation of the singer-songwriter's personal experiences over the past several years.

"When I listen to this music, I feel like it's my life," he explains. "All my mistakes; my decisions, good and bad; my thoughts, my hopes… everything that I am has led me to make this record. I'm doing my best to use the blessings that I've been given to make the world a better place, to give what I'm able to, and not hold back anything."
