Dancing for Children United is Happening This Weekend!
Here's a fun way to help a great cause, and have fun doing it! Dancing for Children United happens this Saturday, April 9, at the Apache Casino Hotel Event Center. This is the second time Lawton celebrities are putting on their dancing shoes to help Children United.
According to Reedy Daly, the first event happened pre-COVID 19, and the second one had to be postponed twice. Now the time is fast approaching and the ticket deadline is today!
Children United came to be when one of the original members witnessed a wheelchair-bound child that was not able to enjoy the playground in Elmer Thomas Park. He immediately saw the need to have an all-inclusive playground to meet the needs of handicapped children.
To make the all-inclusive playground a reality, Children United Committee was created with a mission to provide children of all developmental stages and ranges of mobility the ability to b physically and socially active through play and recreation.
Children United has partnered with the Lawton Enhancement Trust Authority to fundraise to help meet the $500,000 estimated cost for equipment, freight, and installation of the playground.
To help bring awareness of 'Inclusive' playgrounds and to raise donations, Children United and LETA will host this annual event, 'Dancing for Children United' at the Apache Casino Hotel.
