Today's KLAW Classic first hit the country music world in 1973 performed by Buck Owens.  'Streets of Bakersfield' did reach the Number one spot, but not until it was recorded by Dwight Yoakam, who cited Buck Owens as his favorite performer.  In fact, Yoakam asked Buck Owens to sing on his version of the song.  It was the first Number One song for Owens since 1972, and it would end up being his last Number One.
