Dylan Scott Notches First No. 1 Song With ‘My Girl’
Congratulations are in order for Dylan Scott, who just nabbed his first-ever No. 1 single with "My Girl." The song finds itself in the top position on both Billboard and the Country Aircheck/Mediabase Country Airplay charts this week.
His fifth single released to radio, Scott found success with the moving ballad inspired by his wife, Blair. The singer co-wrote the song with Josh Kerr.
"Growing up in Louisiana, I listened to country radio and dreamed of someday hearing myself on the Top 40 Countdown. Not only was I fortunate enough to achieve that dream, but to reach No. 1 with a song that I wrote about my wife is beyond my wildest expectations,” Scott says in a press release. “I am thankful to Curb Records, country radio, and my fans for their tremendous support.”

The singer-songwriter wrote "My Girl" about his wife and all of the little things he sees in her that others don’t. In an interview with Taste of Country earlier this year, Scott shared how the song came to be.
“My wife and I, we were dating at the time,” he says of the inspiration for the song. “We were doing long distance. She was living in Louisiana and I was in Tennessee. I was going to visit her, and we were riding around, and an Eminem song came on the radio. The song was ‘Lose Yourself,’ and she kind of lost herself. She started rapping and dancing in the passenger seat. And I’m driving — trying to drive. Here I was, this 21-year-old kid with my girlfriend just rapping and dancing.”
Scott will release the Dylan Scott Deluxe Edition on Aug. 4. The album is an expanded version of his 2016 self-titled debut, including "My Girl," as well as three new songs.
