Will ESPN Football Analyst Craig James Take Up a Senate Seat?
College football analyst Craig James is taking some time off from his duties with ESPN to contemplate a run for US Senate in Texas. If he does decide to run before the Monday deadline, he’d do so as a Republican, and face some steep competition as he eyes the vacated seat of the retiring Kay Bailey Hutchison.
James is a local product, having played tailback at Southern Methodist University from 1979-1982 before a stint in the NFL. The 50-year-old has been involved in politics for some time, serving with the Texas Public Policy Foundation, a conservative think tank, and also founding Texans for a Better America.
Some wonder how James has been able to play both the media and politics games at the same time even up until this point. Which will he choose?
