Chamber Bucks Giveaway: A Holiday Tradition In Frederick, Okla.

The holidays can be rough on the pocket book, but in a small Oklahoma town, you have a chance to refresh your bank account at the annual Christmas parade. During the annual Christmas parade in Frederick, Oklahoma, residents tune in to the local radio station to hear their ticket number to win Chamber Bucks.

I grew up in Frederick, and I remember the Christmas parade and Chamber Bucks giveaway being one of the town's biggest and best events. As a kid, I loved the parade because since I was the child of a volunteer firefighter, I got to ride on the Frederick Fire Department's historic firetruck with Santa.

As I got older, I participated in the parade as a cheerleader and when I worked at the local boutique K.C.'s, I got to hand out tickets for people to win Chamber Bucks. Local businesses sponsor the Christmas parade and the month before the parade, they give out tickets to shoppers for every $10 they spend.

Then, the night of the parade, residents layout their tickets and listen to the local radio station KYBE to, hopefully, hear their number called. Last year, the Frederick Chamber of Commerce gave out almost $5,000!

Chamber Bucks can be spent at local stores in Frederick.

Besides winning money, one of the best things about winning Chamber Bucks is that money gets put right back in the community. Chamber Bucks can only be used at businesses the are members of the Frederick Chamber of Commerce. So the money is invested right back in to the community, including the businesses who sponsored the parade and giveaway!

So, if you shop in Frederick, you definitely want to enter the Chamber Bucks giveaway for a chance to win! Just shop at participating businesses in Frederick till the Christmas parade on Dec. 18 and be sure to be at the parade to see if you're a lucky winner.
