Downtown Road Closures for Governor Kevin Stitt’s Visit to Lawton, Oklahoma
If you work in downtown Lawton, you may need to plan an alternate route to work between the hours of 7-11 a.m. Tuesday, October 25.
Several roads will be closed in downtown Lawton in preparation for Governor Kevin Stitt's ceremonial signing of HB3649 at 402 SW B Ave. The signing ins scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The bill is one that has been supported by various Lawton veterans organizations as it applies to income tax exemptions for Oklahoma veterans. Lawton is home to the Lawton Veterans Center and to numerous veterans and their families because of our proximity to Fort Sill.
The signing will be held at Veteran's Square, a park located in downtown Lawton between the Lawton Public Library and businesses that line C Avenue.
The City of Lawton has recommended alternate routes of either 3rd Street or 5th Street, and B Avenue will remain open.
Following the ceremonial signing of the bill, Governor Still will remain in Lawton for the Governor's Luncheon at the Hilton Garden Inn. Chamber Members can purchase tickets for $35, and non-members for $45.
