How To Naturally Kill Bugs In Your Home During Oklahoma’s Hot Swampy Summer
There's nothing more annoying than trying to enjoy dinner in your comfortable air conditioned home during an Oklahoma summer and a big fly is buzzing around, getting on your food and in your face. With the hot weather and all the rain we've been getting, flies, mosquitoes and gnats are taking over!
Luckily, there are several natural ways to get rid of those flying pests in your home.
If you're like me, you have a few pets in the home and grandkids running around since it's summertime. So, you don't want to fill the air in your home with tons and tons of bug spray. Below is multiple ways to protect you, your loved ones and your food from all of those annoying flying bugs. And the best part, you'll have most these items already lying around your house or in the cupboards!
Get rid of gnats with this simple mixture!
Gnats are always buzzing around my sink and trashcan. If you're like me, sometimes life gets away from you, so you have dishes in the sink and the trashcan is overflowing. These are perfect areas for gnats to thrive! Luckily, I've discovered a simple home remedy to drown those pesky gnats.
Here's what you need!
- A small cup or shallow dish
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- Dish Soap
- Water
When mixed together, this concoction attracts gnats and drowns them! All you do is take a small cup or shallow dish and mix together one part apple cider vinegar and one part water. Add a dash of dish soap and you're all done! You can keep this mixture on the counter near your sink or somewhere close to your trashcan. Those gnats won't stand a chance.
Make a fly trap with just a jar, syrup and hot dogs!
I haven't tried this one yet, but you bet I will be! I always have empty jars, hot dogs and syrup around the house. This will definitely be an easy way to get rid of flies! I think I'll have to put some of these jars on my back deck for cookouts.
I actually saw this on Facebook, so the directions are in the post below.
A simple wall plug in and candles can get rid of mosquitoes in your house.
Mosquitoes are a little bit more tricky to eliminate in your home. Obviously the only thing that attracts them is blood! But they do have a few weaknesses that can work toward keeping your home bug bite free.
On social media, I came across this super simple bug zapper plug in! All you do is peel off the sticky pad and plug it in. That simple! Bugs will be attracted to the blue light and then stick to pad. This is a perfect way to kill mosquitoes in your home.
If you're like me and love a good smelling home, then you always have candles! In the summer, opt for lavender candles to repel mosquitoes from coming into your home. You can even plant some lavender in pots by your door to keep mosquitoes away.
