The parade in Lawton is a celebration of Armed Forces Day which is celebrated Nationwide on the third Saturday of May each year. Every state and city observes Armed Forces Day in its own way from picnics, and festivals to parties and parades. Lawton has been hosting the Armed Forces Day parade for over 50 years.

The Lawton Armed Forces Day parade is one of the longest-running and biggest Armed Forces parades in the country. The City of Lawton, the Lawton Chamber of Commerce with the Lawton, Fort Sill Convention & Visitors Bureau along with several local and area businesses as well as volunteers from all over team up every year to put this on. It's been an annual tradition for well over 50 years now and counting.

The parade will start at 10:00 a.m. in downtown Lawton on C Avenue at the Central Plaza and make its way to Elmer Thomas Park on Ferris Avenue. You can line the sides of the streets along the parade route.

Lawton, Oklahoma's 'Brady Bunch' House

I'm not the most artistic person in the world, but I'm the type that knows it when I see it. This Lawton house is straight out of mid-century Hollywood. With the multi-level construction and what Google says is called a "shed ceiling," this (nearly) half-million-dollar gem of the 1950s instantly reminded me of the iconic Brady Bunch house I remember in my 90s rerun youth.

Listed by Pam & Barry's Team, I spotted it over on Zillow while passing a moment of boredom over the weekend and couldn't get over how neat some of the rooms were. Vintage vibes indeed.
