Could The Wormy Dog Saloon Be Coming Back To Oklahoma?
There's just one surprise after the other!
One of the most iconic live music venues in Oklahoma, the Wormy Dog Saloon, closed its doors in Oklahoma City over eight years ago. Their social media pages went silent shortly after, with their last dating back to 2018.
Then, out of nowhere, someone posted an optimistic message earlier today, Wednesday, October 1, on their Facebook that said:
"Boys and girls from Oklahoma ...something's coming!"
Now, folks are stirring up rumors of what they think this could mean. Is this another 'Boys From Oklahoma' ploy? Will we see the Wormy Dog Saloon once again?
What was the Wormy Dog Saloon?
Way back in 1992, the Wormy Dog first set up shop in Stillwater, Oklahoma, offering a fun space for artists to share their talents with the community. During this time, Stillwater was alive and thriving with live music all around.
The venue quickly gained notoriety for being the go-to spot to see artists like Brandon Jenkins, Jason Boland, The Great Divide, Cross Canadian Ragweed, No Justice, and many more.
After 11 years, they decided to move to downtown Oklahoma City and continue their journey there.
Why did they close their doors in 2017?
The Wormy Dog Saloon had a successful run keeping live music alive in Oklahoma City for 15 years.
However, out of all of the businesses that the owners were running, such as the Criterion, Tumbleweeds, and a music festival at Lake Eufala, somehow, the Wormy Dog became the "smallest venture" they owned.

While the owners thought that the space would likely be leased quickly after they closed their doors, it doesn't appear like that ever happened.
Community reaction to the suspicious message from Wormy Dog.
Exactly a year ago, Oklahoma band Cross Canadian Ragweed announced they would be doing a one-night-only reunion concert in Stillwater. After the news changed from one-night-only to several nights, and additional concert tours were added, there was a mixed reaction from fans.
Coincidentally, Wormy Dog Saloon posts an ominous message like the one from CCR on the exact same day, a year apart, from the big announcement? Understandably, some fans are suspicious, saying:
"A second year of an exclusive, one night only show, that happened four times last year…" and "Let me guess the band is getting back together."
Despite a few negative nancies, most fans are thrilled to possibly have the premiere music spot of Oklahoma" back.
