Discover The Spectacular Wildflower Season In Texas: A Springtime Delight

Living in Texas does have some disadvantages, like the high temps we endure in the summer. But Spring is one of the best times with moderate temps and the Texas Wildflowers in bloom.

We can thank Lady Bird Johnson for the abundance of wildflowers on our highway systems. This year, because of the heavy rains we enjoyed during the winter, this should be a great year to hit the road and enjoy the beauty.

Usually, South Texas starts the party with that area of the state getting warmer first. Parts of I-37 are blanketed with Bluebonnets and Paintbrushes.

Get off the interstate, and you will find areas full of wildflowers. Towns like George West, Beeville, Cuero and Goliad have plenty to view. Head towards Austin and the Hill Country, and you will find wildflowers painting the hills!

If you drive north, areas around Stephenville, Ennis, Waxahachie, and Waco have many seasonal flowers lining the roads. The best part of the trip around Ennis is the Kolaches and Polka!

Tyler is not to be left out. You can enjoy the wildflowers and roses. Tyler is the Rose Capitol of Texas, so it's like BOGO for flower viewing.

You have to hurry, though; the season for Texas Wildflowers is short, from March through early May.

Fall is great, with football starting. But, honestly, it can still be scorching hot in September and October. Texas Springtime is usually in the 80s, so getting out and enjoying the wildflowers is much more pleasant.

Just be careful when you get out and take pictures in the flowers; Texas has lots of Rattlesnakes that enjoy them, too!
