It was a scorching hot day in middle Tennessee on Wednesday (June 24) but the crowd didn't mind as they gathered up in the parking lot of Dolly Parton's Dolly's Tennessean Travel Stop, just over an hour outside of Nashville.

Nobody, even those in the media, knew that Dolly Parton was going to actually be there in the flesh until right beforehand. After all, she has had some health scares recently and even has cancelled her planned Las Vegas residency, so the chances of her coming just to cut the ribbon on her new travel stop seemed unlikely.

Then, a voice comes on the awaiting microphone that was set up on the front steps and they say that Parton is coming and she is only five minutes away.

The crowd went into a tizzy and Parton's security team could be seen sweeping the area, like the Secret Service would do if it were a political figure taking the stage.

At around 2:50p on Wednesday June 24th Dolly Parton walked out through the front door of her first ever travel stop and took the podium.

Parton greeted the crowd by saying "Hey, Hey, Hey! How are you? How is everybody doing today out in that hot boiling sun?"

Parton then took the time to explain why she decided to be a partner in the travel stop as well, saying she wanted to have a place where everyone felt welcome while traveling, and took a friendly jab at Buc-ee's, "Well, I couldn't leave it to beavers."

Dolly Parton's Last Prior Public Appearance Was in March of 2026

According to Entertainment Weekly, Parton's last public appearance before she cancelled her planned Vegas residency was in March for the season opening of Dollywood.

By her showing up to her travel stop in Cornersville, TN on June 24th, she assured fans that she is doing great.

Check Out The Inside of Dolly's Tennessean Truck Stop

I was there taking the media tour and it was something out of this world. First of all, the parking lot and the inside of the store, restaurant and bar are huge.

Once you make your way to the front door you are greeted with a large Dolly Parton sign mounted on the front facade of the building, so if there were any doubts where you are, those will soon fade away.

There is a giant store with exclusive Parton merch and of course everything else you would need to purchase amidst a road trip. There is also a grab and go BBQ restaurant, which smelled amazing, and Dolly's Cup of Ambition coffee shop.

There is then a restaurant with ample seating and a stage where live music will be playing most days. There is also an upstairs area where you can do karaoke and sit and relax with your friends and family, as well as Doggy Parton, a giant pet run setup outside.

Dolly's Tennessean Travel Stop is set to be more than just a stop along the way of a road, and more of a destination instead.
