Lauren Alaina Admits She Was Nervous About Breastfeeding in Public [INTERVIEW]

Any nursing parent can tell you that breastfeeding or chestfeeding a baby is a full-time job unto itself. That means that Lauren Alaina — who's a touring artist as well as a new mom — now has three jobs to juggle all at once.

Alaina was a guest on Taste of Country Nights where I asked her what has been the most vulnerable situation she has been in since becoming a new mom, and also being famous at the same time.

Alaina giggled and started to answer the question. "Hey listen, I pumped on planes for six months. My boob being out on a plane was pretty vulnerable, I hope nobody got pictures of it."

She continued, "You are in some vulnerable positions when you're breastfeeding and travelling for a living."

Lots of nursing parents feel a little self-conscious about the possibility that strangers might get a glimpse of their breasts while they're feeding their babies. But for someone in Alaina's position, where fans could be snapping photos at any moment, things could easily be even more stressful.

However, Alaina says she's been pleasantly surprised by people's reactions to her nursing in public.

"Honestly, people are so gracious when you're doing it. I think I was the one that was most worried about it... everybody else was fine."

"Also, when she [Benni Doll] was with me I'd just be nursing her. She would have a blanket over her head and people are talking to me and I'm nursing my baby in the airport," the singer continues. "I was the one that was most worried about it, everybody else was fine."

Alaina says that fans who approached her while she was breastfeeding or pumping in public were more understanding than she expected them to be.
