Maine is a really special place full of some really special people. It's also important to note that many of the amazing people in the Pine Tree State that do the most for others in need are in fact, children.

We often see kids coming out to make donations at some of our largest events like Camp Out Hunger. It's always amazing to see parents bringing their young kids out to make a donation and to learn what the spirit of giving back to the community is all about.

That's one of the reasons that when we saw this story, we knew we had to share it with you.

According to WGME 13, a 9-year-old Maine boy, Oliver Blair, is planning to give back in one of the most unique ways we've ever seen.

The news station is reporting that Oliver is planning to help raise as much money as possible for the Fryeburg, Maine, animal shelter. And, how he plans to do it is one of the coolest things we've seen. And to be honest, we're actually a little jealous.

You see, Oliver isn't just planning to do a store-front fundraiser or bottle drive. No, Oliver is planning something way cooler than that.

WGME reports that the Maine 9-year-old is going to be spending his Christmas Eve with the animals in the shelter for the entire night!

Oliver's family says that he has a wicked passion for helping underserved animals and can often be found fostering and even bottle-feeding animals that are in need. What a big heart!

His fundraising goal for his Christmas Eve shelter sleepover is lofty, and we love that.

Oliver says he'd like to raise a whopping $20,000 for the Fryeburg shelter and, with your help, he'll do just that.

GoFundMe, which has already amassed more than $2,000, has been set up to collect the monetary donations for Oliver's mission. Just click here if you'd like to support the cause.

Good luck, and Merry Christmas, Oliver!
