Statue of Hindu Monkey-God in Houston Met with Complaints
Houston has a new landmark. The statue is of the Hindu Monkey God Hanuman. It hasn’t gone unnoticed, as it is the third tallest statue in the United States.
Some Houstonians, most identifying as evangelical Christians, are upset.
The giant erection was unveiled on August 15 at the Sri Ashtalakshmi Hindu Temple in Sugar Land.
An X (formerly Twitter) user, @itsmorganariel opined: “This is a Hindu they just built in Texas. I rebuke this demonic filth in the mighty name of Jesus Christ”.
The shady conservative website, End Times Headlines decried, “A Hindu temple just unveiled a statue of their demonic Lord Hanuman…in Texas.”
Others were quick to point out that Hindus make up 15% of the world’s population AND that Hanuman is a benevolent figure in Hindu tradition, not a demon. Of course, I was raised in Oklahoma where the conventional wisdom is, “If it isn’t Jesus, it must be a demon”.

Lord Hanuman may be a good guy in the Hindu religion but he looks like a kaiju about to destroy that train full of commuters.
According to Newsweek, the Hanuman statue is 90 feet tall. That puts it only behind the Statue of Liberty (151 ft.) and the Pegasus and Dragon statue (110 ft.) in Hallandale Beach, Florida. Just look at THIS crazy thing (and note the tiny human at the bottom of the picture…
