As part of her Kalie Shorr Covers Nashville video series, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Shorr is sharing a performance of Deana Carter's "Strawberry Wine" exclusively with readers of The Boot.

Carter released "Strawberry Wine," written by Matraca Berg and Gary Harrison, as a single in 1996. The song hit No. 1 on the country charts and earned Song of the Year at the CMA Awards; it was also named Song of the Year at the Nashville Music Awards and by the Nashville Songwriters Association International. "Strawberry Wine" also received nominations at the Grammy Awards, ACM Awards and Country Music Radio Awards.

""Strawberry Wine" has always been one of my go-to's. It is country music at its best," Shorr tells The Boot. "I actually got to sing this with Deana Carter at CMA Fest in 2015. She was so kind and just has the purest voice. That was one of the coolest moments of my career."

With her Kalie Shorr Covers Nashville series, Shorr is aiming to showcase both her favorite country songs and her most-frequented Nashville haunts.

"I love Nashville, and I love country music. I wanted to do a series that showed both to people," she explains. "We shot as some of my favorite places around town, and these are some of my favorite songs.”

Fans can follow Shorr on Facebook and Twitter to see more Kalie Shorr Covers Nashville videos as they are released.

A pop-country up-and-comer, Shorr got her start recording covers of songs such as Taylor Swift’s “Blank Slate” and Rebecca Black’s viral hit “Friday” in her bedroom and posting them to YouTube. Her videos have racked up hundreds of thousands of views, even impressing Hollywood gossip-monger Perez Hilton -- so much so that he invited the young artist to perform at his birthday party alongside the Backstreet Boys a few years back.

In 2016, Shorr’s single “Fight Like a Girl” earned plenty of of airplay on SiriusXM's The Highway station; this year, she's been named one of Taste of Country's RISERS. She released a five-song EP, Slingshot, on Friday (March 3); it's available via iTunes.
