This experience will focus on inspiring and emboldening the creative minds of each student through a fun and engaging week of singing, dancing and acting. Students will explore the creative work of theater with familiar material from Disney's “Winnie the Pooh.” Through group activities, games and mini performances, students will leave with the tools to feel empowered in their creativity and have a sense of confidence in their talents and abilities. The summer theatre camp will include one-of-a-king instruction from Kristoffer Pendergraft.

“We'll cover all the basic fundamentals of performing, and we'll do it in a fun, ‘Winnie the Pooh’-themed way,” Pendergraff said.

Camp participation does not guarantee a spot in the upcoming “Winnie the Pooh Kids” performance, scheduled for June. Auditions for “Winnie the Pooh Kids” will be virtual and in-person. Auditions are open to camp participants and other youth performers aged 8 to 11. All interested must submit a video audition by midnight May 31, or attend the in-person audition from 4-7 p.m. May 31 at Lawton Community Theatre. Audition times can be scheduled by calling the theatre at 580-355-1600 or by emailing director@lctok.com. Audition videos or in-person auditions must include: 32 bars (or 30 seconds of singing) of a song in the style of the show; 30 seconds of a monologue; recent headshot (a smartphone photo with good lighting and solid background will work); a resume (this can be a simple typed list of any performing experience and any relevant training, with the actor’s name, age and contact info). Email all audition packets to director@lctok.com.

“Winnie the Pooh Kids” performances will take place June 24-27 at Lawton Community Theatre, 1316 NW Bell Ave. Although the theater is looking forward to hosting its summer theatre camp, and its production of “Winnie the Pooh Kids,” the theater is still being cautious and will enforce CDC summer camp guidelines in order to keep participants safe.
