Love and Theft Score First No. 1 Hit With ‘Angel Eyes’
After dancing around the No. 1 position on the country singles chart over the past few weeks, Love and Theft finally have locked in the top slot with their hit song, ‘Angel Eyes.’
‘Angel Eyes’ was the first release from Love and Theft after their reformation from a trio to a duo. The tune is also the first release from their sophomore self-titled album, which was released in July. The band’s own Eric Gunderson penned the song along with hit singer-songwriter Eric Paslay and Jeff Coplan.
The new No. 1 song is just one of the recent career milestones Love and Theft have experienced recently. Just last week, the tune was certified gold for digital downloads exceeding 500,000 copies sold.
“Thanks to my co-writers for changing my life and letting me write this song with them,” says Gunderson. “I guess dreams really do come true! A No. 1 song and a gold single in one week is so exciting. Thank you to the amazing RCA promo team! They are the best and we are so fortunate to be working with them. This is one week that I will never forget.”
“I can’t believe it!” adds Gunderson’s duo partner, Stephen Barker Liles. “I’m truly humbled and grateful. Thank you so much to RCA, country radio, and all our fans for making one of our biggest dreams come true.”
