Maren Morris Meets Kesha: ‘This Woman Has Inspired Me’
It was a night of inspiration at the 2018 All For the Hall benefit concert in New York on Tuesday (Feb. 13), and Maren Morris got to meet Kesha!
Both artists were selected by host Vince Gill to perform in an intimate songwriters round alongside he and Emmylou Harris at the Times Square Playstation Theatre (benefitting the Country Music Hall of Fame). The round not only included performances of the collective's individual hits, but also found Gill, Harris and Morris all chiming in with harmonies on Kesha's acoustic "Your Love Is My Drug" (watch below).
Morris took to Instagram following the show to express her gratitude toward the superstar — an artist she very much admires. "Was having a little bit of an off day and then I played a round with Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris and this woman who has inspired me a whole lot this year. @iiswhoiis, thank you for being so kind," she writes next to a photo of her flashing the peace sign with Kesha.
Both Kesha and Morris enjoy bouncing between genres, which led the fast-rising country star to a collaboration with Zedd and Grey on the pop track "The Middle," in addition to a duet with Niall Horan, "Seeing Blind." The former One Direction star has invited Morris out on the road with him on his 2018 Flicker World Tour.
Kesha has even made her way into the country world with her critically acclaimed album Rainbow — she teamed up with Dolly Parton on a cover of her 1980 hit "Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You" that was penned by Kesha's mother, PePe Sebert. The pop superstar also paired with Old Crowe Medicine Show on a recent episode of CMT Crossroads.
