Watch Margo Price Sing ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter’ With Loretta Lynn
Margo Price found herself singing with a country icon on Saturday night (April 1). During a concert in East Tennessee, the rising star teamed up with Loretta Lynn to perform a few songs, including Lynn's famous "Coal Miner's Daughter."
Lynn and Price, along with the Milk Carton Kids, were part of a weekend-long Americana Music Association event at Blackberry Farm, located in the Great Smoky Mountains. The 7th annual Americana Spring Celebration, which ran from March 30 through April 1, was a charity event to benefit the Americana Music Association, which is a non-profit artist advocacy group.
"I met my hero Loretta Lynn last night and was lucky enough to sing several songs with her," Price wrote on Instagram on Sunday (April 2), adding that the experience "was absolutely surreal." Readers can press play above to see a snippet of the two artists singing "Coal Miner's Daughter" together.
Loretta Lynn Through the Years
Perhaps Lynn's signature song, "Coal Miner's Daughter" is a No. 1 single from Lynn's 1970 album of the same name. The song shares its name with Lynn's autobiography and a movie based on the singer's life.
Price released her debut album, Midwest Farmer's Daughter, in March of 2016. Before signing with Third Man Records, Price sold her car and pawned her wedding ring to help pay to record Midwest Farmer's Daughter at Memphis’ legendary Sun Studio. The record recently won the 2017 American Music Prize.
