Miranda Lambert Brings the Oak Ridge Boys Out to Sing ‘Elvira’
Lambert started singing the song solo, mentioning how it'd be so much better with the Oaks. And she was right. Joe Bonsall, William Lee Golden, Duane Allen and Richard Sterban came bounding to the Prudential Center stage and took over for a few minutes. Fans didn't seem to mind, and Lambert was in heaven watching the legends steal her show for a song.
"Elvira, elvira / My heart's on fire elvira / Giddy up oom poppa omm poppa mow mow / Giddy up oom poppa omm poppa mow mow / Heigh-ho silver, away," the hit song goes. That's Sterban singing the bass parts.
"Giddy-up! Thanks @theoakridgeboys for saaangin with us last night! The sweetest guys! Love y’all!" she wrote on Instagram later.
The New Jersey stop was part of Lambert's Livin' Like Hippies Tour, which runs through Saturday night in Winston Salem, N.C. On July 12 she'll start the Bandwagon Tour, a co-headlining tour with Little Big Town. Earlier this week she announced "Keeper of the Flame" would be her next radio single. That announcement came just days after Jason Aldean announced a song on is upcoming album would feature the multi-time Female Vocalist of the Year.
The Oak Ridge Boys also showed their appreciation for Lambert's invite on Twitter with several tweets and retweets from the night, including this photo:
The group released a new country gospel album called 17th Avenue Revival earlier this month.
