I don't think AMC knew they had a blockbuster hit on their hands when they released their commercial with Nicole Kidman. In September 2021, AMC and Nicole Kidman launched a commercial about the magic of going to the movie theater. Since then, there have been many recreations, and recently, a museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma, released their spin on it.

If you haven't seen it yet, below is the AMC commercial with Nicole Kidman. When it was released in 2021, it was towards the end of various lockdowns with the COVID-19 pandemic. While we were all stuck at home, many movies were being released on streaming services and several movie theaters had to close their doors. But AMC wasn't giving up on movie theater magic.

"We come to this place for magic."

In the commercial, Nicole Kidman is walking into an AMC theater out of the rain. She's back in the movie theater where magic happens, and where we come to feel every human emotion as the lights begin to dim. Nicole Kidman is then transported between time and space and then reborn as some semi-iconic movies play before her on the big screen.

"Somehow, heartbreak feels good in a place like this."

Now that you've watched the commercial, you probably understand why it has become so popular - it's so easy to spoof. Last year, SNL gave the commercial their own spin.

"We come to Philbrook to laugh, to cry, to care. And sometimes for garden cats."

So, when I saw that the Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa, Oklahoma, did their own take of the AMC commercial, I knew I had to share. The script is adjust a little bit to describe an art museum, not a movie theater, of course. But a lot of the shots are the same, except it's a sunny day in the museum's garden and I imagine the narrator is just walking through a sprinkler puddle.

The narrator makes their way into the museum, walking through its corridors and up its grand staircase, similar to Nicole Kidman gliding through her AMC theater. They even take a seat on a couch to properly gaze at some of the museum's artworks. And you still have that iconic line, "Somehow, heartbreak feels good in a place like this." Probably the best recreation is the ending clip with "Philbrook" in AMC writing and stating, "We make museums better." Watch for yourself below!
