Oh to be 100 years old! Henry Post Airfield Turns 100 This Year, Look at the Group they Join!
Labor Day weekend kicks off with 2 celebrations at Fort Sill Oklahoma. First, on Friday night, August 31 a free concert at Fort Sills Polo Field will feature Kool and the Gang and Lecrae.
Then on Saturday, the Centennial Celebration of the Henry Post Airfield gets under way with tons of activities and static displays for the whole family, and it's Free. Here's a timeline of what to expect at the celebration:
Saturday, September 1 - 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
The 100th Year Anniversary of Henry Post Army Airfield
This is your chance to see historic aircraft. The airshow will feature over 20 aircraft displays, 15 flight demonstrations.
Ground Static Displays
- Aviation Aircraft
- Field Artillery - M119A3, M109A6, Stryker, HIMARS, and M270
- Air Defense Artillery Displays - THAAD Launcher, Avenger and Patriot Launcher
Kids Zone (Bounce Houses, Face Painting, Literacy Tent, Football Toss, and much more)
FREE and Open to the Public.
9:30 a.m. - Gates open
10:00 a.m. - Official start of Centennial Henry Post Army Airfield (HPAAF)
10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Public viewing of all displays
12:00 p.m. - 12:15 p.m. - Fort Sill Half Section Demonstration
1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. - Airshow
Bring your lawn chair or blanket.
There will be no special event access from GATE 2.
- A Visitor Pass is required for non-DoD cardholders. Visit the Visitor Control Center on Sheridan Road and get a Visitor Pass prior to the event day.
- You can also request your pass online at https://fortsillregistration.com/ (Allow 10 business days to process.)
- Juveniles age 16 and under do not require a pass unless they are unaccompanied and/or driving a vehicle.

Girl Scout Cookies
According to MeTv.com we have a group of girls in the Mistletoe Troop in Muskogee for our once a year addiction. They came up with the idea to sell cookies as a way to raise money. After several years The Girls Scout Association commissioned a kitchen to create the cookies, and even though they weren't officially on sale until 1936, the idea is 100 years old.

Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars
This popular canvas and rubber shoe was first introduced by the Converse Rubber Shoe company in 1917. Chuck Taylor as a high school basketball player wore these shoes, and 4 years went to work for the company suggesting some changes, and the rest is history! They were even worn by troops in training in WWII!
