The internet is buzzing with wedding bliss after Taylor Swift announced her engagement to Travis Kelce. Now people are guessing when and where the couple will say "I do." Some people have joked it will be during the Super Bowl halftime next year, but for those who have had to hunt for a wedding venue know that it can be tedious even when you're not a celebrity couple.

When we were planning our wedding in 2020, securing a wedding venue in Oklahoma actually wasn't all that difficult. We knew we wanted somewhere small and elegant for an intimate wedding. Oklahoma has several wedding venues in all shapes and sizes. Whether you're looking for a big space in the country or a beautiful chapel, you'll be able to find it in Oklahoma as you make your wedding plans. The hardest part is getting the venue booked for the date you want.

Oklahoma offers grand and intimate wedding venues across the state.

My now husband and I agreed on the first venue we toured, which was a small chapel in the Paseo District in Oklahoma City. It was the perfect space. The church was quaint, breathtaking and had historical charm. It was constructed in Canada in the 1800s before setting roots in Oklahoma City. Over the years, it had become a historical figure in Oklahoma City.

But the best part about the venue were the two sisters who ran it and became our wedding planners. The church itself was already beautiful but they transformed it to the whimsical, purple-jewel-toned wedding of our dreams. The even had a partnership with a local German bakery that provided the catering and cake for our big day. The church, the sisters, the caterer and everything else made our day so magical.

But I wasn't able to suggest the sisters and the chapel to other brides in Oklahoma after our wedding in 2020 because we were the last wedding the sisters were doing at the chapel. They had sold the chapel and the business, and the German bakery closed its doors the following year. Since then, I'm not sure if there ever was another wedding in that quaint little chapel.

The chapel in Oklahoma City's Paseo District was turned into a modern home.

But in early 2025, it was confirmed that no weddings had taken place in the chapel since our weeding five years ago because it had been remodeled and put on the market as a residence. In April, Oklahoma City realtor Brita McAfee Thrift posted to her official Instagram account a walk through video of the chapel and its new remodel as a two bedroom, one bath home.

One of the bedrooms is on the platform my husband and I said our vows. The kitchen is where we had a table dedicated to our lost loved ones who couldn't be there on our special day. The office is in the top of the chapel tower where I waited with my bridesmaids before walking down the isles. The living is where my uncle sat and said it was the first wedding he ever cried at. And the patio is where attendees danced and enjoyed hors devours from the local German bakery.

The "home" sold on April 23 for $500,000, according to the Zillow listing. The listing stated that the owners converted the chapel into a private residence in 2021. It was moved to Oklahoma in 2000 from New Brunswick, Canada, and was originally constructed in 1842. It served as an event and wedding venue for 15 years.
