Discover The Breathtaking Views And Romance Of Oklahoma’s Heart Rock
People hike all over the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma for breathtaking sites, but one rock in the entire reservation is most sought after by hikers, especially the hopelessly romantic ones.
It's the Heart Rock, which can be found on a simple hike in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge! Most people will hike there just to see it, but some people have hiked there for an anniversary, a date or for a proposal. It's a natural romantic spot in Oklahoma!
The Heart Rock is probably one of the easier landmarks to hike to in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. Definitely a lot easier to get to than the top of Mount Scott, which is breathtaking in both sight and physically.
Where is the Heart Rock?
The Heart Rock is located near a set of trails in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, specifically Dog Run Hollow, which is south of the refuge's Visitor Center with an entrance right off Indiahoma Road. According to the blog Half a Hundred Acre Wood, after seeing the sign for Dog Run Hollow, there's a pull-off area to park your car and you can cross the street to the trail.
When the trail winds out of the evergreen trees, you'll be able to the Heart Rock near the base of a giant sloped rock. Although, it's a few feet tall so it won't look like a heart when standing next to it. You'll have to climb a nearby boulder to get the full view.
