Oklahoma Students Make Sure No Kid Goes Thirsty with Free Water Bottle Campaign
There are many problems plaguing Oklahoma students, but not having access to clean drinking water shouldn't be one of them. Two students in Lawton, Oklahoma, recently noticed several classmates without water bottles and their school lacking in access to available water fountains, so they decided to take matters into their own hands.

According to a story from The Lawton Constitution, a brother and sister enrolled in Lawton Public Schools, noticed that many of their classmates didn't have water bottles for school or extra curricular activities and their school's water fountains were either crowded or there weren't any close enough for students to get to in time between classes. So with the help of their mom, they decided to launch a GoFundMe to buy water bottles for their classmates.
Like with backpacks, students have to have clear water bottles.
But students can have just any kind of water bottle - all water bottles have to be clear. This caveat can make it difficult for parents to get their students a water bottle, which might be why some students go without one. According to the article, the students' mom has found the best water bottle for students that meets the school's requirement. She said in the article that she can buy 32 oz water bottles for about $1 a piece for $500 through Walmart.
As soon as the GoFundMe was posted, friends of the family had donated several hundred dollars. Today (Wednesday, Sept. 20), the students are well over their $500 goal. According to the article, the students and their mom hope to start distributing water bottles to any student that needs them by the end of the month. But you can still donate! Hopefully this will be a long lasting campaign as there will always be a student in need of a water bottle, but now they won't be thirsty long.
