Brad Paisley is presented with the Harmony Award at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. After accepting the trophy, he plays "Southern Comfort Zone" with the orchestra.
The Harmony Award is an honor presented annually by the Nashville Symphony to individuals who exemplify the harmonious spirit of the Nashville musical community. Past recipients include Keith Urban, Dolly Parton, Trisha Yearwood and Amy Grant.
2002
Toby Keith makes his Grand Ole Opry debut. His appearance included a performance of "Does That Blue Moon Ever Shine On You?"
Keith would not grace the famous Opry Circle again for another 8 years, appearing next on January 29, 2011. The Clinton, OK has not been inducted into the Opry and is still considered a "guest artist"

Charlie Rich is born on this date in 1932, in Forrest City, Arkansas. Nicknamed The Silver Fox, he works in jazz and pop music before finding a home in country, where he earns the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year award in 1974.
Rich died in his sleep on July 25, 1995, in a Hammond, Louisiana motel. He was 62 years old. The cause of death was a pulmonary embolism.
