On Monday’s first Live Shows episode of ‘The Voice,’ it was Team Blake Shelton vs. Team Christina Aguilera — two powerful teams taking the stage one by one to show viewers their worth. But none felt quite as heavy, or worth their weight in gold, as 17-year-old country sparkplug RaeLynn.

Sporting her usual hair flowers, RaeLynn truly delivered for country tonight, though she wasn’t singing a country song. “We’re gonna punch America in the face with country,” she said… as she intro-ed a Maroon 5 song, the smash revenge hit ‘Wake Up Call.’

The small-town Texas tidbit first won her way onto ‘The Voice’ — and into Shelton’s heart — with Pistol Annies‘ ‘Hell on Heels’ in her audition. Tonight, she solidified that the ACM Male Vocalist of the Year had made the right choice in keeping her around.

When the lights dropped, RaeLynn shook the room with the Maroon 5 song, perhaps hoping to flirt with Shelton’s bromantic buddy Adam Levine, who is the band’s lead singer. Truth be told, the song is risqué for someone her age, as it’s about catching your lover in the act — and blowing her (his in this case) new partner’s head off with a gun.

What Raelynn lacked in vocal perfection tonight she more than made up for with her sass, working the stage like she’d been doing it since she was in diapers. Shy teenager? Not this girl. Even Christina Aguilera said she was impressed by her sass, echoing that Rae’s performance was undeniably sexy — even for a youngster.

When it was Shelton’s turn to talk, he told her she was “representing the new generation of country music so well” — she has the new sound of the genre. On a side note, he said, referencing the ACM Awards, everyone in Nashville is apparently already supporting Rae.

But the truth will be in the votes. Fans can choose their favorite from tonight’s performances and vote via text, internet and even by downloading RaeLynn’s Maroon 5 cover on iTunes. ‘The Voice’ results show will air Tuesday (April 3).
