I know that we are out of practice doing indoor things.  Summer has had us running full tilt for months now. But, with the rain over the weekend, Mother Nature has said in a huge way, 'It's time to chill inside for a while'.

Why not use those hours inside to be productive?  Or, at the very least  take some of that almost nonexistent 'you' time

With rain continuing in the forecast for the rest of today, here are some of the things you absolutely must do on rainy days! You can do these in any order you choose!

    Change those Sheets

When I was growing up, it was always a Clean Sheet Saturday.  First thing in the morning, Momma would strip all of the beds in the house.  You might remember that I have 4 brothers and sisters and Mom and Dad, that's 6 beds, EVERY Saturday. There is nothing like sliding into bed on Saturday night with those fresh, clean sheets, even if it's not something you really want to do on a Saturday morning.  Why not give yourself a little treat and just change them while it's raining? Then, you not only get the lovely scent of rain but also of clean, crisp sheets.  (BTW, my mom also made all of us girls clean our hair brushes every Saturday too.  With Soap.  Now when mine gets too dirty, I just get a new one. LOL)

    Cuddle with the Pups

My dogs, Brooks and Allie, are cuddlers.  Most of the time, I'll pet for a while, then I'm done, and moving on to other things.  I just can't sit still very long without finding something to do.  But, and this is a big but, when it's raining all bets are off.  First of all, the girls really don't want to go outside, (thank goodness, cause nobody likes wet footprints everywhere), and they do like being lazy.  So, let's just say for argument's sake that I decided to let no one, but two Lil girls crawl up in my lap in my recliner.  Does that make me lazy too?  Maybe, but I'll go with I was keeping them from tracking up my semi-clean floor.

    Read Something

Oh, how I love to grab a book and read when it's raining.  I read several chapters last night when I finally finished my Rainy Day projects.  There's nothing like the sound of the rain on the window, and a good book or magazine article to relax away all of the tensions of the week and prepare you for a good night's sleep. My Co-worker, Kaley, and I have a competition of sorts on who has the most started books on their nightstand.  She wins, I only have two at the moment, because I left one at work. Currently reading book 2 of 'The Summer I turned Pretty', called 'It's Not Summer without You', the second book of the Bridgerton series, 'The Viscount Who Loved Me', and the Lorretta Lynn book 'Me & Patsy"

    Organize Kitchen Cabinets

This actually could be any day, but when forced to stay indoors, and with a dinner party looming this weekend, rainy days make this chore easier to schedule.  I have to admit, I tackled this project for two reasons.  One, I finally organized my china cabinet and was able to move my Grandmother's china out of a hideaway cabinet and display it properly.  I also put my everyday dishes in the China Cabinet too because they are way too pretty to keep behind closed doors. (Nobody puts baby in a cabinet! LOL).  Moving both of those sets of dishes made so much more room in my regular cabinets. There is much rearranging going on in my kitchen at the moment. China cabinet complete with the exception of dishes that had to be hand washed before displaying.  That will be tonight.  This will be a work in progress for the next couple of days!

Why Not Just Take a Nap?

Let's face it, we are busier than we have ever been.  No matter how hard we try, there just aren't enough hours in the day to get stuff done.  Unless...it's raining!  Rain just seems to slow things down a bit.  And with the darker skies and the pitter-patter of rain against the window, magically the day becomes a little bit sleepier, so why not just take a nap? I prefer to nap in my girl-size recliner in the living room bundled in a soft throw, but my daughter opts for heading back to one of the bedrooms to stretch out.  No matter what your preference is, napping is a must for rainy days!
