Reba McEntire Hits 30 Million Albums Sold
This week, Reba McEntire technically became the second female country artist to ever sell more than 30 million albums. The first woman to do this was Shania Twain, who is currently considered the top-selling female country artist of all time with 34,175,000 albums sold, according to Perez Hilton.
And while Twain has sold quite an incredible number of records, McEntire has actually been making hits since 1981 — 10 years before the Nielsen SoundScan even started keeping track of album sales.
So, it’s true that McEntire should likely be considered the top-selling country gal, but at the same time, it’s pretty impressive and mind boggling that she’s still holding the No. 2 slot, even though 10 years of her hits don’t even count in the ranking. And ranking aside, it’s incredible to think that both McEntire and Twain have seen their records purchased 30 million times!
McEntire, who recently co-hosted the ACM Awards with Blake Shelton, can be heard this week singing behind the Billy Gilman charity song ‘The Choice‘ alongside 17 other country megastars. June 22, McEntire will become the newest member of the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame, being inducted in a ceremony hosted by film and music luminary Julie Andrews.
In addition to selling records and netting accolades like a pro, the ‘I’m a Survivor’ singer is also getting ready for the fall premiere of her newest television sitcom ‘Malibu Country,’ which will air on ABC.
