Sheryl Crow has released a new collaboration with Chris Stapleton on "Tell Me When It's Over," and it packs a real emotional and musical punch.

The blues-rock track plays directly to both of their vocal strengths, and their voices provide an interesting textural contrast as they tell the story of a relationship that is coming apart.

"Anything's better / Than hanging 'round together / Knowing that the other one's through / And honestly, I don't think / It's the biggest that we've seen / But it's feeling like we're breaking in two," the pair sing to set up the chorus, which begs, "Tell me when it's over / 'Cause I don't want to be the last to know."

Crow and Stapleton co-wrote the Stones-y track together. The accompanying lyric video gives fans a glimpse into the recording session with Crow and Stapleton, interspersed with footage of Crow traveling.

Crow and Stapleton previously collaborated with Brandon Flowers in 2015 to perform "Don't Let Me Down" at John Lennon's 75th Birthday Concert at New York City's Madison Square Garden.

"Tell Me When It's Over" offers a taste of what fans can expect from Crow's upcoming collaboration album, Threads, which is set for release on Aug. 30 via Big Machine's Valory Music Co. Fans can pre-order the album now.

Crow has shared several other tracks from the forthcoming album, including “Redemption Day” featuring Johnny Cash, “Live Wire” featuring Bonnie Raitt and Mavis Staples, “Still the Good Old Days” featuring Joe Walsh, “Prove You Wrong” featuring Stevie Nicks and Maren Morris and “Everything Is Broken” featuring Jason Isbell.

Stapleton recently performed on another collaboration, "Blow," with Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars, which appears on Sheeran's collaborative album, No. 6 Collaborations Project.

Crow is finishing a string of fall concerts and festivals through October, including two shows at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium.
