My family is totally geek.  This summer, our geek will be satisfied with some great movies.  We also try to see some movies at the Drive In.  It's a throwback but it is an experience we should all have.

The Drive In theater is not a place where you must sit quietly in a row and watch the movie.  It's a community atmosphere where people are playing Frisbee, kids are running around catching bugs and your lawn chair outside your open hatchback is the norm.

We love seeing two movies at a time (although the kid never makes it past the first before falling asleep on the pile of blankets we put in the back of the SUV).

When was the last time you did the Drive In?  The good news is the Drive In has seen a resurgence in the last few years.  When I was a kid, we would go but then they started losing money and our favorite turned into a place where porn was played on the screen and people hid in cars.  Thankfully, there are still some great drive in options around our area.

It's an adventure and an experience that should be part of every SWOK Summer.  Oh, and don't forget the bug spray.

Drive In Theaters In Our Area (let me know if I missed one):

Chief Drive-In:  Rural Route 2 south of Chickasha.  Open weekends only and screening double features.

Winchester Drive-in in Oklahoma City:  located at 6930 S. Western Avenue.  This is the only OK Drive-In that features triple features on a regular basis.  They are open 7 nights a week in the summer.  Look for the big cowboy sign.

Beacon Drive-In Theater:  South Davidson in Guthrie

Graham Drive-In:  Graham Texas on Jacksboro Highway.  Open May-September on the weekends.

Tower Drive-In in Rule, TX (Haskell County) located on Highway 6 (about an hour and a half away from Lawton).
