Lots is happening at the Lawton Food Bank! This year, the Lawton Food Bank will be celebrating 40 years of fighting hunger in Lawton. And the Lawton Food Bank recently welcomed a new executive director.

The Lawton Food Bank will turn 40 this August. And to celebrate, the Lawton Food Bank has launched its $40 for 40 campaign with a goal to raise $40,000 by August. Since launching on May 1, the Lawton Food Bank has raised $14,898.41 as of Tuesday, July 1.

The Lawton Food Bank is encouraging individuals to donate $40 if they can. They also have options for businesses and organizations to become a sponsor and to host fundraisers.

All proceeds donated to the Lawton Food Bank remain within the local community. Last year, the Lawton Food Bank serviced 15,838 families who received over 1.3 million pounds of food.

The Lawton Food Bank appointed Alex Minter-McCann as its new Executive Director.

On July 1, the Lawton Food Bank announced that it has welcomed a new executive director. Alex Minter McCann will bring with her a diverse background in nonprofit leadership and a passion for community empowerment. According to a press release from the Lawton Food Bank, Minter McCann recently served as the Success By 6 Family Empowerment Director at the United Way of Southwest Oklahoma.

"I am honored to lead the Lawton Food Bank into its next chapter," Minter McCann said in the press release. "I am committed to bringing energy, vision, and leadership to the organization and am excited for what we’ll accomplish together in the fight against hunger."
